If you are an:
Artist? Qualified artists/performers receive state and local tax breaks on studio renovations. Artists who qualify do not pay state or local income tax on income derived from artistic work created and sold within the district or via the Internet.
Existing business owner? Any qualifying arts enterprise is exempt from the Admission and Amusement Tax levied on receipts from events taking place in the Arts on the River District. Additional benefits include an increased awareness of what Snow Hill has to offer.
Developer/property owner? Renovations related to the arts receive tax breaks. Property owners may apply for property tax credits for new construction and improvements made specifically for use as a qualifying art enterprise. This is a regressive property tax credit that starts with a credit for 100% of increased assessed value for the first 3 years and ends with 10% in the 10th year.
Want to Volunteer? Community involvement is a key component to the success of Arts on the River. Anyone who is interested in promoting the arts in Snow Hill is encouraged to volunteer to help with Arts on the River events and projects.
Volunteers are needed to plan and run events, sell tickets, solicit vendors and donors. For more information contact Ann Coates via email or by calling 410-632-3555
